Advertisment

1. We want to provide you with information that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
2. We invite you to join us on a personal journey through the history of brands and advertising. Enjoy the emotional intensity of nostalgia with three centuries of advertising history.
3. Do you still remember your first car? Your first beer? Your first cigarette? What do you tell your children when they ask, "Dad, what’s a typewriter?"
4. International experts call us "The largest dual digital database of advertising and brands". Classic slogans and ads are just a click away at ADSandBRANDS. ALL of the ads have been scanned from the ORIGINAL media and are available in a high-resolution format.
5. We document the spirit of the times, the characteristic language, social trends, progress and technology as well as the oft-quoted "good old days" and the wonderful world of nostalgia.
6. IT’S THIS EASY! The pull-down menu BEST OF… located below the grey Search box will provide you with a quick overview of the available topics. Select a topic and then click GO. You can view the pictures in FLASH and HTML versions and sort them using various criteria.
7. FLASH version: You can get a quick overview of the pictures using the small yellow arrows or by moving the scroll bar below the arrows. Double-click the desired ad to call up the detail view. NOTE: Two-page ads are not displayed in their original proportions in this version.
8. HTML version: The ads are displayed in HTML in a reduced size below the FLASH version. The most important information, such as the brand name, corporate group, year of publication and the average rating are displayed here. Click on an ad to return to the detail view.
9. DETAIL view: Here you can also see all of the two-page ads in an optimal, enlargeable format. Click the magnifying glass icon on the right side of the window to enlarge the ad. This view also provides details about the current ad including a link to the company’s current Internet site. You can also click links to view all of the ads from the respective company/brand, all of the ads from the respective corporate group or all of the ads from the respective year.
10. Search: You can also perform keyword searches using the grey Search box. For example, if you enter NIVEA you will receive all of the archived ads for this brand. NOTE: The spelling of some brand names has changed over the decades. Example: 8 x 4, 8x4, 8 by 4. We used the spelling of the brand name that was current at the time of the respective ad.
I hope that you enjoy www.ADSandBRANDS.com

P.S.: Our oldest ad is an ad for the publishing house Kleditschen in Leipzig dating back to 1690.
